Here is a letter I received today regarding the cost of recycling from our waste hauler.
Due to market conditions, our cost will go from zero up to $26.00+ per ton for recycling.
Since this letter was received late in the month, I would expect that we will all see an increase on our monthly utility in August.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. email tmileski@pleasantviewcity.com

Dear City Administration,
As you are aware, there have been several changes to the recycling program in Weber County this year. At the beginning of February, Weber County Transfer Station decided to shut down their recycling program, and as a result, Recycled Earth stepped in and began accepting the material at no cost to avoid the material from being landfilled.
Recycled Earth informed us yesterday that they can no longer absorb the cost of processing the material, and effective June 26, 2017, they will charge a fee of $26.81 per ton for residential recycling brought to their facility. We’ve included a copy of the letter they sent us so that you may better understand their reasoning for this change. Unfortunately, we also cannot absorb the cost of your cities’ recycling tonnage, and find it necessary to bill you for any tonnage that we take to Recycled Earth. Or, if you prefer, you may set up an account with them and they can bill you directly each month.
Based on the current figures for Pleasant View’s recycling tonnage this year, we estimate that the cost involved to process your recycling would be approximately $0.42 per home, per month. We’ve included a breakdown of this amount on the attached page so that you may figure this into your own costs.
We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause. We sincerely value the relationship that we have with Pleasant View City. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns that we can address.
Best Regards,
Val Sanders
President
