The Pleasant View Fire

It sure was a crazy evening…

A big thanks goes out to North View Fire Department, Ogden City Fire Department, Plain City, Weber County Fire, South Ogden Fire Department, Layton City Fire Department, Box Elder Fire, State Fire and the Forest Service Fire guys!   If I missed someone, I sure am sorry…. It was amazing….

A real special thanks also goes out to Brent Bailey who sent two water trucks, KENCO Construction and Mike Humphreys construction as well for bringing up their water trucks.
I called Humphreys specifically after looking a that direction of the fire, it was burning towards two of our City wells and pump houses, and wanted an insurance policy just for that.

The fire ended up burning to less than 1/8 of a mile to the one well and less than a 1/4 of the other.  You think Flint was bad, think what would have happened if two of our larger producing wells were burned and off line for a year?

So off we went….

Here are a few photos I took the day of and the next day.  I didn't think to take a photo until I was knocked down helping carry the hose, and thought that I had better document something.

This first one is the young man from Plain City Fire Department (Bren) after their brush truck blew the radiator and they hooked to Humphreys' water truck.

That is Bren again and Travis Humphreys, I took this one after I fell carrying the hose.  At this point we are about 650-750 feet from the first well and pump house.

This is Plain City's big truck saving this home… next one is from the next day …. burned up to the house.
