First of all… What ‘Threat are you talking about?’ What are you smoking?
It is your reporter who wanted to make this Library issue a
Campaign issue, not me! As a matter of
fact I support Commissioner Bell (below I will list the reasons).
I wanted to talk about the Library issues. Since, you (the Standard) didn’t get it
right, let me list what I said!
I said, it is silly to spend $5,000,000 on a remodel that
has no parking. There is not even an agreement
or contract with any entity for additional parking… Who dropped the ball there? The Library
Board? The problem I have with the
Library Board is that they are not elected officials. Yes, I do believe the Commissioners have the
power to overturn their actions. Yes, I
suggested a ballot measure, at WHAT major expense to the tax payers are you
talking about? There is an election item
on the ballot this year and would be next to nothing to place it on the ballot,
BECAUSE, the Library Board keeps saying … well, it is what the voters wanted,
sure, that was the vote, WHERE IS THE PARKING FOLKS?
My point to the reporter was this… Yes, if the Library was
moved to a new location we would have about 14,000 to 17,000 sq.ft with PLENTY
OF PARKING, which is more square footage of space than we currently have and
MORE PARKING, and Yes, it would not be as much space if the $5,000,000 was
spent to remodel the 10,000 to 11,000 sq.ft. basement with again… no additional
parking. Now, when there are programs at
the North Branch and when the parking is full, folks turn around and leave….
Why? No parking! So are you going to
tell me that this will not get worse with MORE space and no more parking? This is my point! Unfortunately, this part did not make it into
the article.
All the reporter wanted to do was make this a re-election
issue, for whatever reason or grudge the Standard has I don’t know. I simply said it is premature to talk about
any re-election issue/campaign for Commissioner Bell.
Here is why I support Commissioner Bell, Like me, he is for
smaller Government, reducing waste and costs, and keeping Government out of our
lives!
Now print that!
Mayor Toby Mileski
